FEATURES:

This IMAA legal aircraft features a beautiful flat painted airbrushed finish. The fuselage is made of epoxy resin fiberglass, which is stronger and more rigid than polyester resin. The wings and tail structure are made with built up balsa, and covered with solartex, which is then painted. The retract bays are constructed to support heavy duty Robart retract systems, which have been custom designed for this aircraft. It comes with heavy duty hardware and a gasoline ready fuel tank. Switches and connectors are concealed behind a magnetically attached panel for easy access and to maintain a proper scale look.

HISTORY:

The North American T-6 Texan was a single-engine advanced trainer aircraft used to train pilots of the United States Army Air Forces, United States Navy, Royal Air Force and other air forces of the British Commonwealth during World War II and into the 1950's. In British service it was referred to as the Harvard.

After the second world war, the Texan saw combat duty as a FAC aircraft in both the Korean war and the Vietnam war. They were widely sold around the world and were a common sight in airforces in Africa and South America. The Texan saw combat in the Soccer War between Honduras and El Salvador in 1969, in which it engaged in dogfights with F4U Corsairs, P-51 Mustangs and T-28 Trojans. The Texan was finally completely retired from service in 1995, when they were withdrawn from South African service, where they had continued to be used as trainers due to arms embargos as a result of that nation's apartheid policy.
